A Journey through the Coronavirus Pandemic, through the eyes of a Student-Athlete
When the virus and stay-at-home rules first started, I was kinda excited because that meant I didn’t have to get up early for school. But then everything else changed and I couldn’t see my friends or play volleyball. That felt really different and I was upset and disappointed. I really miss not being able to see my friends and not playing volleyball with my team. I really miss the tournaments – I love being on the court with the girls, but also just hanging out in the hotel rooms and spending time with everyone.
During this time, I set a goal to stay in shape and not let my skills deteriorate. I’ve been practicing at least twice a week in my driveway – my dad even used pool noodles and wood to build a target across our gate so I can practice my hitting and serving. I’ve also been working out with my mom – she makes me run and do burpees a lot, which help me stay in shape.
I can’t wait for this to be over so I can see my friends and play with my team again!
