Youth Programs

Our Developmental programs are designed for players who are new to volleyball and want to learn more about the sport.  We also have programs for younger athletes who are looking to improve their skills.  Our 1st Contact program is great for players who are picking up a volleyball for the first time.  Developmental Academy is great for players who have little to some experience and are wanting to improve their skills.  This Academy helps players improve so they can join club volleyball some day, or just to improve their ability so they can make their school team.

Programs are available for players from Kinder through 7th grade.

Mini-Club Program

Part of our Developmental Program is our Mini-Club.  This is a program to take players who are ready to participate in team volleyball and train them as a team.  This also includes a few tournaments every season.  Check out our Mini-Club page from more information!

Youth Programs Director: Alyssa McMorris

Alyssa McMorris discovered her love for volleyball at the age of 10 and has been passionate about the sport ever since. After playing for several club programs, she found her home at Houston Stars Volleyball Club, where she was coached by Kaylee Ray. Her time at Houston Stars played a pivotal role in shaping her not only as a player, but also as the coach she is today.

Alyssa attended Cy-Ranch High School before becoming a member of the first graduating class of Bridgeland High School. She continued her volleyball career at Texas A&M University, where she competed on the club volleyball team and remained involved through intramural competition while earning her bachelor's degree.

Following her playing career, Alyssa returned to Houston Stars to begin coaching, eager to give back to the program that had such a meaningful impact on her own journey. Since then, she has coached athletes of all ages and skill levels and now serves as the Youth Program Director. She is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging environment where athletes can build strong fundamentals, develop confidence, and discover a lifelong love for the game.

Alyssa believes volleyball is about much more than wins and losses. It teaches resilience, teamwork, discipline, and confidence—qualities that extend far beyond the court. Her mission is to help every athlete grow as both a player and a person while continuing the tradition of excellence that makes Houston Stars such a special place.
